Spin asks: What are the top ten books you believe designers should read?

UK based design firm Spin recently asked major figures in design what are the top books every designer should read. 50 designers old and new from Wolfgang Weingart to Peter Saville made a contribution outlining the books that had the most influence on them. The result is a broadsheet format listing of an eclectic 500 books from Cat In the Hat by Dr Zeus to Typographica. The paper is available for $5 which is a small price to pay for such a comprehensive list of information. A must for any practicing or aspiring designer.

e-flux is pleased to announce the opening of its reading room...

e-flux is pleased to announce the opening of its reading room in New York on Friday, August 28th at 6PM. The reading room is a rapidly growing collection of several thousand books on contemporary art exhibitions open to the public at 41 Essex Street. The books have been donated by numerous art institutions and individuals from all parts of the world and reflect some of the more interesting developments in art of the past decade. e-flux reading room is open for research and study from Tuesday through Saturday, 12-6 pm.

Just a lot of things, involving books I want to read, going on in places I can’t get to.

Whatever world, I get it, my birthday month is over.

Deuce: Ballast Point book

Following on from yesterday’s Deuce post about the work they have recently completed for Ballast Point Park in Sydney, I thought I would take a few shots of the book they also produced for the project. More images over on my Flickr. And thanks to Sophie at Deuce for sending me out a copy.
